2012 Holly Dickens Festival Recap

December 19, 2012 By

Being part of one of the oldest Dickens Festivals in downtown Holly, Michigan was something I never expected.  As the third weekend wrapped up all I can say is that I am super glad we were able to be a part of it, and I hope Parx is a part of this festival for years to come.

Holly Dickens Festival

Sled, Holly, Michigan, Dickens Festival

Can you see the excitement?  I think it is safe to say that this is how we all felt after the last day of the festival.  It was a blast and words cannot explain how much fun we actually had at the festival.  We pushed kids down our sledding hill for hours on end, and I am pretty sure the kids could not get enough of it because all we heard is “One more time, One More TIME!”  So what did they do?  They jumped right back in line for another plunge down the sledding hill.

With all of the fun we had, I have to give a huge thanks to the Holly Dickens Festival Committee for making everything happen.  They worked their butts off to make a dying festival happen and I hope they are very happy with the results.  I also have to give a huge thanks to Dick and Dawn from Holly Hills Primitives for getting us into the festival.  They are a huge reason the whole festival took place.  Also have to give it up to all of the coffee shops in town for keeping us warm and for keeping our energy levels high with their freshly brewed coffee.  That stuff was good.  One last thank you to John from Great Lakes Market Place for food and more coffee.

All in all, it seemed like the Holly Dickens Festival went off without a hitch.  The shops were full and the streets were filled with people from all over Michigan.  Again, we couldn’t have been happier to be apart of this festival and I hope it grows every year.  Next year is the big 40th anniversary so if you have never been to the Holly Dickens Festival, 2013 is your year to be there.

Holly Dickens Festival Week Two

December 7, 2012 By

With two weekends down and one to go, I have to say “there is nothing like being a part of a good ole’ fashion festival.”  Add in the fact that we get to add a sledding hill to the festival makes it all that much better.  Enjoy a quick recap of our second weekend sledding at the Holly Dickens Festival.

Week Two

Dickens Festival Sledding

The second weekend went off.  We had a line 50 feet long of people waiting to get their turn on the sledding hill.  Between Saturday and Sunday we sledded for 12 hours and people still couldn’t get enough.  We had grandpas, we had three year olds, and a ton of people in between.

Here is a video of the fun we had the second weekend of the Dickens Festival.

Now all we have to do is wait a little bit and we will be pushing people down the hill for another 12 hours.  Don’t get us wrong though, we have to take the first “practice runs” just to make sure everything is safe and super fun.

If you have never been to a Holly Dickens Festival, I suggest that you take some time and get there.  It is a killer little town with a bunch of good people who like to sing, sled, and parade around like we are in the 1900’s.

Have you ever been to the Holly Dickens Festival?

Summer Snowboarding 2012 – APPROVED

November 19, 2012 By

Snowboard and ski

If you live somewhere that only allows you to get a few months of snowboarding in, there is only one thing for you to do.  Build a year round backyard set up for yourself.  In the video you are about to watch, this is exactly what happens.  From the looks of it, all you need is some wood, some outdoor carpet, and a will to build something fun.  From here on out these cats will be on a board every single day if they want to.  They got it done, and they are APPROVED because of it!

Summer Snowboarding

Each week we highlight our favorite piece of social media from the snowboard and ski world and give it our “I’d Hit That” stamp of approval. All we want to do is give recognition to all of the hard working folks in the Action Sports Industry.

Sit back, enjoy, and take a look at this weeks “I’d Hit That” stamp of approval.

Do you have a video, a picture, or a special piece of snowboard and ski media that you would like to get approved?  If so, send your story through our Contact Page.

Wake the Line

Check out the highlights from Oneill’s Wake the Line 2012 wake event.  I would have to say that this is probably one of the coolest cable events to date and the best set up for a competition ever.  They do it up right and bring in some of the the top skaters, boarders and fans anyone could have.  It’s exactly why this video is Approved.
