The Cable Factory – APPROVED

May 28, 2013 By

Snowboard and skiI am not really sure how I feel about this, but I have to say that it is an interesting concept. Cable systems have been in the wakeboard industry for a few years and I have always wondered if they could be used on snow. In short… They can. As you will see, these folks built up a small park in between two Sesitec towers and made it happen. All in all, it looks pretty fun. It’s a new way to use cable systems and heck it gives you the ability to ride with out a hill. That in itself has to be Approved. Enjoy.

Snowboard and skiThis is really stepping up the anti.  Girls doing double flips?  Can that be true?  Well if you have any idea of how Amber Wing boards you know that she would be the one to push the limits.  She knew it was possible and she proved that girls can step it up and ride with the big boys.  Watch this quick clip of Amber throwing down the double.  This should make any woman think twice if they ever doubt themselves.  For that Amber,  your Approved.

Wake the Line

Check out the highlights from Oneill’s Wake the Line 2012 wake event.  I would have to say that this is probably one of the coolest cable events to date and the best set up for a competition ever.  They do it up right and bring in some of the the top skaters, boarders and fans anyone could have.  It’s exactly why this video is Approved.

Water, Snow, System 2.0

April 4, 2012 By

If you like to wakeboard, snowboard, and participate in action sports.  You have to check out what the people over at The Wake Park Project are doing to take things to the next level.  They have built a proven two tower cable system that is sure to amp up your game.  If you can get your hands on a rope that is pulled by a Sesitec System 2.0, you will know what I am talking about.

As of now System 2.0 is geared towards wakeboarding; however, I see a huge future for using this system on the snow and for personal cable parks.  .  If you ask me, I would combine trampolines, foam pits, Parx, Flowrider, Surf Slides, and the new System 2.0 to create an Ultimate Training Facility.

We had a chance to use the System 2.0 at Boarder Pass in Canada.  Enjoy.

With the ability to set up System 2.0 at lighting speeds and stretch it up to 700 feet.  What could you do with it?  Anything!  Use it for a backyard wake and snow parks.  Take it to your grandma’s and set it up in her pond.  Buy one with a friend and open up a local cable park in your community.  People have already started world cable park tours.

Sesitec System 2.0 is a perfect design  and I hope to wakeboard behind one for the rest of my life.  What is your next big invention?  Are you going to build a cable system?

OWC – Orlando Watersports Complex

March 23, 2012 By

In the heart of Orlando, Florida lays the mecca of wakeboarding and many other action sports.  Right next to Disney Land, Sea World, Epcot, and many other world famous attractions.  The Orlando Watersports Complex make its mark.

Orlando Watersports Complex

Wakeboard and waterskiIn a state where the average annual temperature is 72.3 degrees F, OWC turns first time wakeboarders into pro tour riders.    You can get a pull behind a boat, or you can tone your arms by lapping one of the two cable parks at OWC.  If you are in Florida on vacation, take a vactation from vacation and go to the Orlando Watersports Complex.

Time to check out some Video

My overall thoughts after wakeboarding at OWC…  The place has been around from the beginning of the cable park craze.  They revolutionized riding styles, wakeboards, and the sport of wakeboarding.  There is no doubt that you should give OWC a test if you are in Florida.  Heck you will probably end up saving money compared to a lot of the Disney prices.

As  for anyone who lives in FL, you are lucky.  I know you have more than one park to choose from and I look to get back down there again.  OWC I will make sure to stop by every time my feet touch down in Orlando.  Thanks for the good times and  for making me become a better wakeboarder.  If you want more information on Orlando Watersports Complex, make sure to check out there site.  OrlandoWatersports.com

Personal Wakeboard Cable Parks

March 21, 2012 By

Wakeboard Cable parkThinking to the future here.  Thinking about how I want to live my life and what it will look like.  There is a lot of time left in this vision so I figured it would be fun to pick out a piece of it and let you in on my dream.  The dream of having a cable park in my backyard where friends and family join together for weekly wakeboard fun.

My Personal Cable

Here is the picture I have in my head.  As you venture through to the end of the winding drive, an moderate A-frame house opens up the woods.  A short walk past the garage refrigerator puts you on top of a small hill which over looks the rest of the 10 acres.  A 40 foot walk to the right a has you sitting on top of our deck enjoying the rays of sun bouncing off the 4 acre pond. aka: The Cable Park

Right now there are 3 Cable Systems to choose from.

Wakeboard Boarder Pass

Sesitec 2.0 –  One of the first two tower cable systems to hit the US market.  Used at Boarder Pass

ERC – Endless Ride Cable, The second two tower system to hit the market.  Used at Board Nation

Cable Bahn – The third and newest two tower system.  Used at Railapalooza.

Imagine your own cable…

To me it makes sense.  Actually compared to my dream boat, I could probably buy two systems.  The challenge is weather gas or electricity is more expensive.  My guess is that gas is going to be on the high side for how much riding you can get done behind a cable.  Don’t get me wrong though.  A boat is a necessity, but with a cable the options are endless!

What are your dreams?  Have you ever wrote them out?  Do you think you can get your community together and put up a cable park?
