General Spirits (distilled at an undisclosed location) in Michigan!!

It is going down this weekend folks. I don’t know how much has been said about it or how much anyone has heard of it, but let me tell you. It is happening.
I know there is a lot going on this weekend, but if you want to get your shred on one more time before the snow flies, make sure to get down to Outdoor Action Company for some pre winter skiing and snowboarding.
There will be free prizes and tons of giveaways. Probably even some food. If I can remember, I polished off a few hot dogs the last couple of years I stopped by. Either way, if you have nothing to do, come out and ride, say hi and enjoy the day on the snow. Hope to see you there!

It is about to happen again. The Downtown Rail Jam is about to go down in Birmingham, Michigan on September 21st. Last year was off the hook and this year should be much of the same. Bring your friends, bring your boards, and lets jam.
Here are some pictures from last year. The drop in will be the same this year due to city ordinances and crap, but we are hope to have some new obstacles for you to jam this year.
Well Flickr slide shows still do not want to work on my site, so here is the link.
Since my slideshow didn’t work here is a video from last year to get you pumped. Enjoy and I hope to see you at the jam.[embed width=”620″ height=”349″]http://youtu.be/85R8VZ5kRYY[/embed]

After a good day of coaching at the Wake Board Clinic, I took to the water with a few long time friends to wakeboard and surf. The day started off with some rain and lightning which happens to be one of the best ways to start the day because all of the neighbors get off of the lake. With a good start, came good riding by all. Check out my latest wakesurf trick.
Before I go any further, I am not 100% sure if this is a true fire hydrant or not. I did a search and only found a few other fire hydrants. One looked like mine, and the others were done by taking the front foot off of the board. There were also a few other variations.
Fire Hydrant or not, I don’t care. This is a new trick for me and I am stoked on it. My next move will be to bring my leg out the front instead of the back. That will add some technicality to the trick and push my limits just a little bit more.
Do you make sure to push your limits when you are on a board? Even if the move is small, small moves all add up to be big moves. So always push to do something different. It will help out your overall riding skills in a big way.
What will your next trick be?

If there is not snow on the ground and it is already Christmas, what the heck will you do to ride? You might be able to go to the local ski resort if they are open, but what if they are not? What I suggest you do is carefully watch this video and follow every step these Michigan shredders take. It works, and has to be one of the best ways to get on your skis or snowboards no doubt. What it also is, is a lot of hard work and dedication to the sports you love the most. For that and for dusting off the cobwebs, this video has to be Approved! Enjoy.
Christmas Ski Edit
Each week we highlight our favorite piece of social media from the snowboard and ski world and give it our “I’d Hit That” stamp of approval. All we want to do is give recognition to all of the hard working folks in the Action Sports Industry.
Sit back, enjoy, and take a look at this weeks “I’d Hit That” stamp of approval.[embed width=”620″ height=”349″]http://youtu.be/1CKwWoXWWSA[/embed]
Do you have a special piece of snowboard and ski media that you would like to get approved? If so, Send It Over.

I have honestly been trying to post this slideshow of week two at the wakeboard clinic for over three days. I really don’t like how it looks, but who cares at this point. Check out how much fun we had surfing, skiing and wakeboarding.
If you want to get in on the fun, make sure to hit me up, or go to the wakeboardclinic.com.

After the birth of my child almost two weeks ago, I started in on a new summer adventure. For the rest of this year and what could be years to come, you will find me coaching people of all ages how to wakeboard, wakesurf, and ski with the Wake Board Clinic.
Over the past two years I worked at Boyne Wake Camp getting my feet wet and learning the ropes. This year I made the jump and joined Brian and his team for the whole summer. I think this was a jump in the right direction.
The summer is young. So if you ever want to get behind a boat and don’t know how to get there. Hit me up or go to the wakeboardclinic.com. We will hook you up behind a brand new 2013 Nautique in no time.

Last night X Games Detroit Bid organizers put together a party in downtown Detroit to welcome ESPN to the town. It was an opportunity to show ESPN what D-town is all about and to show them exactly why the X Games should be here for the next three years.
X Games Detroit
To keep it short. The organizers did a damn good job. The local BMX crew shared ramps with the local skate crew to put on a daring show. Mix Master Mike threw down some nasty beets while local graffiti artist did their thing. The rest of us hung out and supported the cause.
All I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised by the whole event. The number of people who showed up to support the whole thing was killer and I had a great time.
From what I saw, I think ESPN has to be happy. If you want to see the X Games come to Detroit, get to the X Games Detroit Bid facebook page and start paying attention. These guys are making big moves and they can use your help.

After getting off of the lake last night, all I could think about is how wakeboarding and the lake fits into my life. This is all I want to do during the summer, and I do not talk about it enough. Being on a lake or a river has been a part of my life since I can remember. Heck it’s one of the main ways I get myself on a board.
Water or snow, to me it doesn’t matter. Some people like the cement and wheels. I am a water guy for life and will wakeboard until I am to weak too pull myself out of the water.

It’s cool to find people who love to snowboard so much they will blow snow in their own backyard just to build a snowboard park. This type of person is a rare breed, but I bet you know someone (maybe it is you) who gets creative just so they can ride in their own yard. Check out what Jeremy, a fellow Parx follower, does with his backyard. He calls it the Hood Lab.
This is simply amazing if you ask me. It looks like a winter wonderland. What you probably do not know is that outside of this fence is grass, dirt and maybe a little frost. What you see in the picture above is the Hood Lab after a few days of blowing man made snow. Jeremy wasn’t about to wait around for Mother Nature. Take a look at the edit below. It shows how Jeremy and his friends get down once the Hood Lab is all shaped up.

Looks pretty fun right? There is not much space inside the fences that make up the Hood Lab, but Jeremy did a killer job filling every inch of his backyard. If this doesn’t get you inspired to get out in your yard and make something happen, I don’t know if anything will.
Have to give Jeremy a special thanks for sharing his video and a few pictures with us. What he did with the little space he was provided is sweet! I hope more people get out there and build their own park just so they can ride more. It has to be one of the best ways to get on your board. Thanks man.
What will you turn your backyard into?
