Henrik Harlaut Slays it Backyard Style

February 1, 2013 By

Just days after winning the X Games Ski Big Air in Aspen, Colorado, Henrik Harlaut was back on a plane headed for Michigan.  When the plane touched down, he was on a whole new tour. The Inspired Demo Tour by Inspired Media Concepts.  They made their way through Michigan visiting different resorts, shops and Michiganders.  One of their stops put them in my good friend’s backyard for a morning session before they continued their journey.

Backyard Rail Jam, ski, Inspired Demp Tour

This Instagram of Henrik skiing in Luke and Amy’s backyard gets me pumped. To imagine going from jumping over 70+ feet at the X Games to dropping 6 feet in on a 16 foot pvc rail,  Backyard Style, is crazy to me.  If I had to guess, that feeling and those thoughts are exactly what the Inspired Demo Tour is all about.

I missed you guys this round, but I hope you come back and ride in Michigan again.  From the sounds of everything, the Inspired Demo Tour is leaving a mark, and paving a way for action sports to be even bigger than they are.

Check out where the Tour and Henrik will be next on their Facebook page.

Freestyle Skiing Madness – APPROVED

February 20, 2012 By

Snowboard and skiEach week we highlight our favorite piece of social media from the snowboard and ski world and give it our “I’d Hit That” stamp of approval.  All we want to do is give recognition to all of the hard working folks in the Action Sports Industry.

Sit back, enjoy, and take a look at this weeks “I’d Hit That” stamp of approval.

Legs of Steal

Dude, this freestyle ski sequence is insanely sweet.  It is always great to see a huge freestyle park in the middle of the mountains.  It is even better to see 3-6 skiers in the air at one time, all crossing paths.  I know we talk about snowboarding a lot, but this is exactly why we love skiers and their sport.  Stamp It!!

Do you have a video, a picture, or a special piece of snowboard and ski media that you would like to get approved?  If so, send it to us through our Contact Page.

Ski and Snowboard Inside the Misfit Lab

October 28, 2011 By

Indoor Snowboard and Ski Training FacilityOver the past few years there has been a lot of talk that Michigan needs an indoor snowboard and ski training facility.  We couldn’t agree more, and we are happy to say that it is going down right now.  In a few months an indoor snowboard, ski and skate training facility will open in Fenton, MI.  It’s called the Misfit Lab.

The Misfit Lab

Shaun Hamilton and his wife are behind this project and it is progressing very fast.  When we first talked with Shaun in early 2011 the Misfit Lab was only an idea.  I will never forget testing out Powderpak in Shaun’s backyard to see if it would work for the lab.  Since that day of testing, a building has been leased, plans have been finalized and the construction is about to start.  It’s on!!

Inside the Misfit lab will be a pro shop, a skate park, a snowboard and ski hill complete with a foam pit, rails, a beginner hill, and a trampoline to master tricks on.  This is history folks.  The Misfit Lab is one of a few indoor snowboard and ski training facilities in the USA.

Check out the Plans

PARX Thoughts

At first we were a little jealous of the Misfit Lab, but now we are completely pumped someone stepped up and took the initiative to make something like this happen.  It’s about time.  Michigan needs a place like this and the Midwest needed one even more!  We are pumped to have met Shaun and his wife and look forward to walk with them as they build this empire.  We look forward to the day they open in mid December.  Word on the street is that we will be there with our set up to help celebrate their opening.  We are so stoked to be a part of something so special and new that we can hardly wait.

What are your thoughts of the Misfit Lab?  What would you like to see inside?  Will you go to there to snowboard or ski?  Leave a comment or send us an email at info@parxbyjont.com.  We would love to hear what you think.

Misfit Lab = 0004 places, PARX and the world can Board the Midwest All Day Everyday.
