Wake Board Clinic

June 20, 2013 By

After the birth of my child almost two weeks ago, I started in on a new summer adventure. For the rest of this year and what could be years to come, you will find me coaching people of all ages how to wakeboard, wakesurf, and ski with the Wake Board Clinic.

Board Clinic

Wakeboard clinic, Midwest, Michigan

Over the past two years I worked at Boyne Wake Camp getting my feet wet and learning the ropes. This year I made the jump and joined Brian and his team for the whole summer. I think this was a jump in the right direction.

The summer is young. So if you ever want to get behind a boat and don’t know how to get there. Hit me up or go to the wakeboardclinic.com. We will hook you up behind a brand new 2013 Nautique in no time.

Rising High with Red Bull

May 22, 2013 By

Can you remember the days where you would build a snowboard jump and not take the time to build a landing? Do you remember your body telling you that it was a horrible idea the day after or even that night? Well the same thing has been happening in the cable wakeboard scene for years, but I think Red Bull just put the stops to it.

Red Bull

Wakeboard, Red Bull, Water, Action SportsYup, that is a water ramp with a huge snowboard style landing. I have no idea what this is going to do to the sport of wakeboarding, but I can tell you that it is a huge step in the right direction.

From the sounds of it, Red Bull and Unit really do not know what this will do to the sport. Check out this short teaser clip.

A few years back I took a small stab at solving this problem. Here is what I had to say about landing flat all day on water. I tell you what. Coming from a guy who has blown out knees, something had to be done.

[embed width=”620″ height=”349″]http://youtu.be/4paGPUc-zqo[/embed]

I can only imagine how many dollar bills were thrown into this. So many that it looks like Red Bull will put on an event in Germany to show case this unbelievable invention. To find more on the event make sure to check out their site. www.redbull.de/risinghigh. To see an english version, check out Alliance Wake.

What will this do to the Cable Wakeboard scene?

Lake Life

May 21, 2013 By

Wakeboard, lakes, michigan, midwestAfter getting off of the lake last night, all I could think about is how wakeboarding and the lake fits into my life. This is all I want to do during the summer, and I do not talk about it enough. Being on a lake or a river has been a part of my life since I can remember. Heck it’s one of the main ways I get myself on a board.

Water or snow, to me it doesn’t matter. Some people like the cement and wheels. I am a water guy for life and will wakeboard until I am to weak too pull myself out of the water.

Wakeboard with CableBahn

September 12, 2012 By

Now that cable parks are popping up all over the US and amplifying the wakeboard industry, it is time to talk about the newest two tower wakeboard cable system on the market.  Since its inception in 2010/2011, this company has been more places than one can imagine.  It’s portable, it’s perfect for any competition, and I hope to see them on more private and publicly owned lakes around the world.  The company that makes it all possible: CableBahn.

Wakeboard, CableBahn, Two Tower Wakeboard System

After meeting Sam, the owner of CableBahn, it is easy to notice that he is in it for the right reason.  He did not just create a product because he saw the money signs flashing in front of his face.  He did it because he loves the sport and wants to see people of all ages and all abilities progress to their highest potential.  Read their mission.

“This isn’t a game of who is better or why, it is simply a push for the progression of wakeboarding. A drive to introduce more people to the sport and bring wakeboarding to an entirely new level. Our goal is simply creating a product that facilitates that push.”

With an attitude like that everyone can be a winner and I know CableBahn can prove themselves as a leader in the wakeboarding industry.  Check this slow mo vid. of one of the last events I attended where CableBahn pulled riders across Step Up Productions set up for two days straight at Bay Side Grill in Walled Lake, MI.

With the ability to take their cable to virtually any spot in the US, there is no doubt that you will see them around.  If you want CableBahn in your backyard check out their website and give Sam a call.  I am sure he will hook you up.  It is up to you to decide how much you want to wakeboard, because they have given us all a chance to Board All Day, Everyday.  CableBahn is a killer company with many good people behind it, and I can’t wait to see them more in the near future.  Hopefully in the Midwest.

Do you want a cable system for wakeboarding, or would you rather have a boat?

Dry Slope at Cable Parks

September 5, 2012 By

From the day I stood on a snowboard to the day I started out on a wakeboard, and up until today; I have always thought the two sports go hand in hand.  One of my biggest goals has been to either wakeboard, or snowboard everyday possible.  Now I wonder why we can’t snowboard and wakeboard on the same day in the same place.

Snowboard at Cable Parks

Cable Parks, wakeboarding, SnowboardingWith the number of cable parks being built every year in the US, I think having dry slope as another attraction to the cable parks should be a situation we make happen.

Many of the cable parks I have been to have always had extra land or even an island in the middle of the cable.  I do not think that adding snowboarding to cable parks would be a big deal at all.  Other than to the fans and the hundreds people that make trips to the cable every summer.

The dry slope (aka: snowboard attraction) could be as big or as small as you would want it to be.  It could be a rail park, or it could be a nice big air jump like the one you see in the picture above.  Either way it would add to cable parks and it would be another reason for people to come.

Other than the additional attraction, it would give people a chance to participate in two action sports on the same day.  It would also finally bring the two sports together.  Like I said from the beginning, I believe snowboarding and wakeboarding go hand in hand.  If we can combine the two sports in one location, I also believe we would have many more people who excel in both disciplines.  It would make people better on a board overall.  I bet their board control would be out of this world.  All in all, I love the idea of this concept, and it goes along with my ultimate training facility  that the Midwest and many other parts of the world could use.

What do you think?  Can we mix snowboarding and wakeboarding and make cable parks that much more fun?

Wakeboard with the Horses

August 29, 2012 By

Alright, so over the last few years I have been writing about wakeboarding and snowboarding and the different aspects of being able to ride all day, everyday.  Well to say the least I found another way for you to get out on the water if all else fails.  Check this out.

Horse Boarding

Wakeboard, Ski, Horse

I don’t really know if you call this wakeboarding, surfing, or skiing.  I do know that it really doesn’t matter in this case.  This picture just cracks me up and it goes to show that if you really want to get out on the water bad enough, you can do it.

All it really takes is a piece of plywood and a horse.  Maybe a car and a couple sheets of newspaper or maybe a team of titans and a few milk cartons.  In the end, all it really takes is some passion and a desire to get out on the water.

So what is your excuse for not Boarding the Midwest All Day, Everyday?
